Somewhere in the French Alps…… Amongst like-minded enthusiasts

The bi-annual BergMeister Tour for R Gruppe members has achieved a reputation of being one of the toughest public road driving events for classic 911s. R Gruppe members from around the world return to the event and ship cars in from afar, just to experience the atmosphere and driving with their friends. It is traditionally held in the mountainous areas of Europe and includes 30 cols of various degrees of altitude. The idea for this event was born from the desire to drive some of the classic rally roads of the Coupe des Alpes and the Monte Carlo Rally.

The BergMeister Tour is organised by TwinSpark Racing’s Leonard Stolk and he has been receiving regular requests from classic car enthusiasts to be invited. So TwinSpark have decided to start organising similar events for a broader audience, outside R Gruppe.

To cater towards the tastes of a variety of drivers, be it Porsche aficionados or other classic cars, TwinSpark have composed two types of routes: The BergMeister Challenge route (350 km daily) and the BergMeister Montagnard route (250km daily). The route starts in Evian les Bains and finishes 5 days later in the neighbourhood of Annecy. You will have crossed around 20 Cols of the spectacular kind.

You can opt to drive without navigator and use a navigation device which you can rent from TwinSpark, with the routes loaded. Alternatively you can drive the route based on tulip instruction in the road book. Your navigator needs a strong stomach to last a week of hairpins though!

You will be driving on some of the most beautiful Alpine roads in Europe, whilst taking in breathtaking mountain terrain. There will be hundreds of hairpins to enjoy and, with some minor exceptions, you will be driving on asphalt surface. The routes can be covered in about 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon, leaving time for coffee stops to take in the landscape and lunch.

The atmosphere TwinSpark creates is informal and inclusive. Usually two groups are formed when driving, who stay together during the day as much as possible but each participant is free to drive the route as they please.

The registration fee covers 7 nights basic hotel, all meals, and soft drinks. Participants will receive a unique polo and sticker materials, as well as a finishers’ award. Registration for 1 person is €2.900 and for two persons per car €3.695 incl VAT. Registration closes August 15 2014 and we expect this initial event for 12 cars to fill up in a hurry.
