Description
Here’s our take on the factory front chin spoiler/airdam, used on the 1973 RSRs that raced at circuits including Daytona and Monza.
This short spoiler tucked under the front bumper of the 1973 2.8 RSR was at the dawn of Porsche’s experiments with 911 aerodynamics. The race car aero testing ultimately led to a chin spoiler and Whale Tail for the 1974 911 Turbo, the cliff-faced IROC RSRs, and 934 and 935 racing 911s with their huge front airdams.
Our version incorporates a small splitter. We have run with and without the splitter and there is a small difference between the two in our experience.
Porsche ran early cars without splitters but added them later: note the lack of splitter on the 1973 Daytona winner, but the presence of a splitter on this later 934.5 at Silverstone. The RSR front with this set up has passed scrutineering at FIA events so is fully legal.
This spoiler is a perfect fit for our 2.8 RSR front bumper. We’ve spent hours getting this part right, as can be seen from the fit on our own RSR race car. Email us with any questions about this product.
