Description
This perfect reproduction of the ultra-rare works 911 RSR engine oil tank is truly unique.
RSRs all suffer from oil surge on track, and often blow oil into the catch tank, so the common tendency is to run less oil in the system to allow more space for oil to move around. Our own RSRs have raced with the oil set to bottom level on the dipstick, which is some 1.5 or 2 litres less than max.
Running low oil levels can induce oil starvation, and is not ideal for peace of mind with an RSR engine which could cost €45,000 or more using simple reproduction parts, or €150K+ on genuine engines. With a much larger lower section holding a lot more oil, this reproduction solves that problem.
Copper plated as with all works oil tanks, its bespoke construction suits all 1973/1974 911 RSRs and allows cars to run at least 10% more oil than a standard 911 oil tank. It also takes the worry out of using a standard 911 oil tank, many of which have corroded down to paper-thin metal over the years.
The downside is carrying the extra weight of 2 litres of oil, but the upside is a lot stronger, with zero oil starvation and proper protection for your precious 2.8 or 3.0 911 RSR engine. More oil means a much lower oil temperature, which is a great bonus in endurance racing, particularly in high ambient temperatures often seen at Classic Le Mans or other legendary sportscar races.
