- Comments Off on Tetsu Ikuzawa, Porsche Factory Driver, wins at 70!
A few years ago I received an email from Team Ikuzawa in Japan. The writer introduced himself as Tetsu Ikuzawa and announced that he wanted to visit TwinSpark Central. Delighted with the interest in our business, I started to research who our mysterious future visitor was.
As it turned out, Tetsu Ikuzawa is in Japan what Steve McQueen is in the West: Mr UeberCool. Tetsu has raced anything on wheels in his 70 years on this planet, from motorcycles, GTs, formula 3000 and Sportscars of several kinds. As far as I could find out, Tetsu was the only Japanese Porsche factory racer ever and one of the few Japanese finishers at Le Mans, a.o. A discussion with Hayden Burvill at WEVO in California last week reminded me of the groundbreaking semi-solid engine mounts Hayden developed for the 996 and 997 911 models. We’ve sold lots of these engine mounts to Porsche owners and dealers all over Europe. A sporty alternative to the factory engine mounts, these Semi-Solid engine mounts fit all Porsche 996 and 997 models from 1999 to 2012. Crafted with WEVO quality from aluminum, stainless steel and polyurethane, their purpose is to sharpen the connection between moving mass of engine and [...]
Silverado – the Twinspark Racing Porsche 911 ST – returned from the body shop last week sporting only a single color 8080 silver and having its rear end corrected. Silver colors and cosmetic surgery are not uncommon on older ladies and Silverado is no exception. However, this paint job covered up a rush job by an incompetent colleague and the bodywork corrected an intimate encounter with a nameless Italian on a Dolomite mountain pass! The things these cars are up to when you’re not looking.
And there’s more work to follow, to get the rear end straight with the rest of the body. On the inside a new, correct 300 km speedo is going into the dash, as soon as we work out why suddenly you need to switch on the tripmaster to get a speed reading…
After our open exhaust race with the Hulk [...]
