Our friends at EB Motorsport are going great guns at the minute, with lightweight Porsche panels and race equipment zooming off all over the world. Business is going so well that EB is flying in skilled composite manufacturing labour from Europe, to catch up with stock requirements while keeping quality consistent.
It’s great to see a brand succeed by sticking to high quality Porsche parts. Here’s a few pictures fromĀ Tuthill Porsche yesterday, where EB Motorsport lightweight panels are going on three different project Porsche 911 builds, either in paint at the moment or heading for paint very soon.
First is this superb silver Carrera (top). A later G50 example, the car is in rust-free condition throughout, but the owner has decided to brighten up the bodywork with fresh silver paint. Tuthills stripped much of the exterior by hand with a heat gun and plastic scraper so as not to damage the metalwork through abrasion.
The shell was painted last weekend and turned out great. John decided to repaint the doors due to a hint of cloudiness he picked up in the finish: I couldn’t see it, but don’t obstruct a painter on a mission. The 3.2 is going back together with bright window surrounds, refurbished impact bumpers, some new rubber trim parts and Carrera side stripes. Topping the lot is an EB Motorsport 911 ducktail in silver: it should all look amazing.
In Tuthill’s fabrication workshop are two 911s being built for Safari this year: one Porsche in 911 ST guise and one as a 911 RSR. Both use panels from EB Motorsport’s range and the fit on both is excellent, even before the fine adjustment they will get in the paint shop.
Look at the gaps on this ducktail straight out of the box (and the EB Motorsport bumper beneath): one customer recently opted to use an EB Motorsport Porsche ducktail rather than an original Porsche RS item. Says it all for quality: infinitely sharper than the ducktail for my car, which I choose not to use!
The EB Motorsport ducktail is seen here on a Porsche 911 ST, but the super-wide 911 3.0 RSR tail on the other car is more nice Porsche work. Manufactured in multiple sections, the intricate moulds are joined together at the EB factory during final assembly. It’s impressive to watch, but not as incredible as the 60-foot-tall GRP grain silos the company is famous for making.
