After many years of scouting and testing, including an outright scam-job by a potential supplier, we have finally launched a wheel range which we are confident of will satisfy our client base.
Not only do TwinSpark offer factory standard offsets, but also custom offsets for those of you who are hot-rodding your later cars into early body styles, or building race cars with FIA compliant set ups, who find it hard to find affordable, correct looking solutions.
TwinSpark have had a few decisions to make on the road to this launch:
What maximum width do we provide?
We have decided to limit the width to 12J as we consider this the maximum for a 15″ wheel and 11J for the 16″ wheels. The benchmark we used to determine these measurements was a set of widened Fuchs wheels, with a similar construction to our new wheels, which measured 14J and under use of slicks at Assen Race Track 2 years ago, collapsed. The heart twisted clean out of the wheel, taking an irreplaceable RSR Long Distance Brake calliper with it…

Modified Fuchs wheel taken from 8J to 14J and destroyed during a race in 2012 at Assen whilst on duty on our race car The Hulk. This could have ended much worse than what you see here…
What finish do we provide?
Our clients are enthusiasts who seem to rally around the RSR finish. Instead of offering all sort of bespoke paint jobs we feel comfortable that the RSR look is the one you would buy. Mind you: this is not the acid dipped finish applied by some expert wheel restorers, but an anodised solution which give a very similar effect, but with the maintenance advantage of a closed surface structure. See for yourself in this picture from the 2014 BergMeisteR Tour, during which our race car performed test duty for these wheels in 8J & 9J 16″ version.
Why would you buy these wheels?
- Original wheels are Unobtanium these days. Even a 6J deep dish is unaffordable now.
- As enthusiasts continue to try new and different suspensions and builds, they can’t find the right wheel offsets in the RSR look, or end up using ridiculously sized spacers.
- There are cast alternatives out there, but the strength is potentially insufficient for serious sportscar driving, especially on track or in rallies.
- The TwinSpark RSR wheels aren’t cheap, but at least you have a choice in sizes and the comfort that these are strong, forged wheels with an attractive finish and you come in way ahead of alternatives.
