Singer Vehicle Design has presented their first restoration developed to a client’s motorsport specification.
The 1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – All-terrain Competition Study (ACS) has been developed in special partnership with noted 911 rally and motorsport specialist Tuthill Porsche to enable off-road racing and exploration.
At the request of their client, Singer has looked to a golden era of Porsche rallying in the 1980s, and to automotive heroes including the 911 SC/RS and 959, to reimagine his air-cooled 911 as a World Rally Championship-inspired, all-terrain competition machine.
Features include a strengthened monocoque, raised ride height, twin turbo-charged 3.6L flat-six, permanent AWD, specialised long-travel suspension with twin, 5-way adjustable competition dampers per corner, FIA-certified race seats and GPS race navigation system. This is Singer’s take on the 911 Safari.
The results of the All-terrain Competition Study will be available to other Singer clients wishing to equip their cars with these capabilities. Welcome ACS!

The R Gruppe continues to penetrate air-cooled Porschelore. Member Thorsten in Germany recently wangled a place in the Porsche Legends charge up the Solitude Hillclimb at last month’s Revival meet. Thorsten tells the story:

“I got in the group through my little tricked-out, good looking, good sounding car (as others call it) and my membership in FLB: Freunde Luftgekuehlter Boxermotoren (Friends of Aircooled Boxer Motors). It’s the internal Club for Porsche workers.
“The field was fast and it was pretty crazy, but I had a blast! Following a 356 Carrera, and Kurt Ahrens in the Dreikantschaber, or Herbert Linge in a ’67 911, being passed by a 910 and then a 904 while watching Marc Lieb in the 718 F2 in my rear view mirror getting closer was awesome! What a great weekend!”

- Comments Off on Race on August 11 at Zandvoort Oldtimer Festival

Next weekend promises to be an outstanding race weekend, packed with action and plenty of great cars to watch at Zandvoort. Nationaal Oldtimer Festival 2013 is an initiative of 402 Events and the races are organized under the auspices of the Historic Car Racing Club (HARC).
The on-track program includes circuit access to oldtimer owners in between Qualifying and 3 races for two race classes each: Dutch Historic GT and Touring Car Championship 66-81 by Dantuma and Youngtimer Touring Car Trophy. So there will be constant action to watch.
TwinSpark is within a fraction of a point from the lead in the GT&TC Championship, although the size of our class may limit the number of points we can gather for the Championship. So we’ll go for line honors and hope that more 3.0 RSR’s will join the battle next week.
