WEVO upgrades: Porsche 996/997 GT3 & Turbo

A discussion with Hayden Burvill at WEVO in California last week reminded me of the groundbreaking semi-solid engine mounts Hayden developed for the 996 and 997 911 models. The product has since been copied by a number of aftermarket companies but, as Hayden points out, none of them have the depth of engineering expertise or materials experience present at WEVO, to ensure every piece is at peak efficiency when manufactured and support the product after sale.

We’ve sold lots of these engine mounts to Porsche owners and dealers all over Europe. A sporty alternative to the factory engine mounts, these Semi-Solid engine mounts fit all Porsche 996 and 997 models from 1999 to 2012. Crafted with WEVO quality from aluminum, stainless steel and polyurethane, their purpose is to sharpen the connection between moving mass of engine and transmission, and the frame of the vehicle.

WEVO Semi-Solid engine mounts (right) save 3lbs over stock mounts and mimimise the movement between motor and chassis, helping the car’s suspension and tyres to work more efficiently. They also keep torsional forces under some control, which can assist with easier gearshifting in high-load sitations. This is the number one reward I get from the same design executed in the SS mounts for earlier 911s.
