Our third racing weekend of the championship was just completed at the Nurburgring. In the intermissions of the 159 participant VLN Barbarossapreis (German Endurance Series), the Dantuma Dutch Historic GT and Touring Car Championship drove an early, wet qualifying session and two dry races.

Coming to this venue as an observer during e.g the Oldtimer Grand Prix, in the past you are overwhelmed by the scale of the Nurburgring facilities. It practically dwarfs Spa-Francorchamps. Imagine arriving as a participant to the Holy Gates next to the Lindner Hotel and presenting your participants parking pass! This was going to be fun. The place was packed with professional racing teams, supporting tens of 997 RSRs, several Mercedes SLS Gull Wings and a raft of lesser equipment. For a moment you think:”have we arrived in the right spot?”

The weather predictions were for a wet Friday [...]

After a night of pizza by the lake and without a doubt the warmest night of the whole trip, it was off to Monaco via the highway up to Limone Piemonte. So as we arrived we had to park for 15 minutes in line before the light would go green. There was a charming lady in a brand new white Cayenne at the head of the queue and appealing to her sense of “family” she agreed to let [...]

Lex and I are organising  the many, many parts gathered over many, many years. It’s a Herculean task, particularly on Lex’ part, because he’s been the crow all these years, as it turns out!  Organising the parts is one thing, but cataloguing them falls mostly in my lap.

As I was adding parts to what will be an outstanding spares list, I suddenly realised that we have the components in stock to build the ultimate torquey BergMeister engine.

Obviously you can go with a late 3.6 and stick it into the back of your early 911 and have power without end under your large toe. I know Steven Harris wouldn’t have it any other way and it works great for him. The other end of the spectrum is to go with a high torque, high horsepower alternative, [...]
