I’m currently down in San Diego CA, working on some Porsche features with legendary car photographer, Jamie Lipman.
I’m typing this from a friend’s house. As I sit here in the den, looking out over the mountains and the border with Mexico just a few miles away, I’m reflecting on my notes for the feature we shot this evening. This is the Porsche 911 RSR of our amigo, Mike Gagen.
Mike has owned the car for over ten years. It’s been through a few iterations. Currently the car runs a 3.6 motor, highly trick with a flowed case and heads, Carrillo rods, modified cams and so on. The body features lots of fibreglass, including some mucho sexy bolt-on rear wings.
The RSR reminds me of US military weaponry: the SR-71 Blackbird in particular. I half expect to see fuel dripping from it as it cools down after our sunset driving shoot. Didn’t happen but it might have been fun…
