Silverado – the Twinspark Racing Porsche 911 ST – returned from the body shop last week sporting only a single color 8080 silver and having its rear end corrected. Silver colors and cosmetic surgery are not uncommon on older ladies and Silverado is no exception. However, this paint job covered up a rush job by an incompetent colleague and the bodywork corrected an intimate encounter with a nameless Italian on a Dolomite mountain pass! The things these cars are up to when you’re not looking.

And there’s more work to follow, to get the rear end straight with the rest of the body. On the inside a new, correct 300 km speedo is going into the dash, as soon as we work out why suddenly you need to switch on the tripmaster to get a speed reading…

Congratulations to Twinspark Racing customer, BMA/Bernard Munster Autosport, for their victory on the 2012 Rallye du Maroc Historique. This gruelling rally is a direct descendant of the famously tough Morocco International: a long-time car killer that drew entries from around the world, thanks to the epicness running through its veins.

Twinspark’s association with BMA goes back to our earliest days. The team is one of our approved garagiste dealers, and benefits from trade discounts on all of our parts. One interesting Twinspark-supplied product run on the BMA Porsche 911 rally cars for this event is the Porsche 911 gearbox/transmission cooling system. Developed by WEVO on the desert racetracks and endurance circuits of North America, this product has been tried and tested across harsh terrain and, like all of our parts, in our own cars also.

I have regularly spent time in the South of France, visiting my sister, who lives and works there and I became enamored with the landscape of the Alpes Maritimes. During day trips my wife and I would criss cross the landscape in rental cars, looking for vantage points for photo’s, and at some stage I decided we needed to take the R Gruppe down here.

I gauged the interest among friends in the USA and at R Gruppe Treffen in 2009 the BergMeister Tour was born. TwinSpark partner John Glynn was there and the pals of Zuffenhaus and Steven Harris. Although in the end out of that group onlyJohn and Steven joined us on the first Tour [...]
