Birthday congratulations to Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, who is 70 years old on Friday. A popular member of the global Porsche community, Ferry’s youngest son has some great Porsche friends around the world – I’ve seen his signature on many a 911 bonnet.

Wolfgang was born on the 10 May 1943, at the family estate in Zell am See. The family returned to Stuttgart in 1950, where Wolfgang attended the Waldorf School. Graduating from Heppenheim’s Odenwald School in 1965, Wolfgang initially served an apprenticeship before studying Business Administration at the University of Economics in Vienna, where he received a Doctorate of Commercial Science in 1973.

This was the year after Ferry’s decision to remove the third generation of Porsches from day-to-day company management. Wolfgang became the importer of Yamaha motorcycles into Austria, a business he ran for 27 years. In 1976, he [...]

EB Motorsport has just released its second-generation Fuchs 11 x 15″ wheel. Period wide 15″ Fuchs are a lottery. The wheels have been raced hard for over forty years, with unimaginable fatigue lying under the surface. One cracked rim can send a proper competition RSR into the wall, with far more costly damage to repair than simply replacing the rare and highly prized period magnesium wheels at £5,000 a pair.

Priced around half that, EB’s 11-inch Fuchs are high quality reproductions that can take the knocks and will last for years.

WEVO has released its latest transmission side covers. Designed for the magnesium housing version of the 901 series transmissions – officially known as the 911 transmission, the WEVO version has a cable bracket that is peculiar to the OE version of the clutch cable and release mechanism, and is therefore a bolt-on solution.

The all-new WEVO 911 gearbox side covers are anodised grey, to protect the metal and avoid confusion with other version side covers. They are a similar tone/hue to the bare magnesium of the 911’s transmission.

Hayden issues a cautionary note with these parts. “Bolt-on refers to the interchangeability of configuration. Good work practices assume the installer will check for bearing pre-load and CWP backlash, as would be normal [...]
