After 2 years of anticipation and months of prep work to plot routes, organise hotels, polo’s, stickers and the like, our departure is near. BergMeisteR Tour III will see 8 early 911’s cover 4.500 km in 8 days. Our route will take us through Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France , Switzerland, Italy and Monaco.

Judging by a regular flow of enquiries, this event has started to reach a bit of halo-status among aficionado’s as the toughest test of early 911 resilience, shy of an endurance race event. Every element of the car is challenged in this road trip. Although we drive by the rules of the road, the driving is spirited and involves intense acceleration and braking. To give you an idea: last time, in 2012, I went through a set of Michelin TB’s in a week.

WEVO has released its latest transmission side covers. Designed for the magnesium housing version of the 901 series transmissions – officially known as the 911 transmission, the WEVO version has a cable bracket that is peculiar to the OE version of the clutch cable and release mechanism, and is therefore a bolt-on solution.

The all-new WEVO 911 gearbox side covers are anodised grey, to protect the metal and avoid confusion with other version side covers. They are a similar tone/hue to the bare magnesium of the 911’s transmission.

Dropped into Tuthill Porsche earlier this week, where the team are getting Glenn Janssens’ Belgian Historic Championship-winning 911 together ahead of the season opener in Haspengouw on February 22-23.

Janssens will defend the title in his mega 911, as seen in the Chris Harris video below. The 3.5-litre twin-plug Porsche still runs the EB Motorsport slide throttle system as on sale in the Twinspark Racing shop but this year has added another Twinspark Racing product, in the form of a WEVO Billet Shifter with SL superlight shift knob.
