Lex Proper drove The Hulk, our 1974 Porsche 911 RSR to 2 consecutive P2s in the first round of the Dutch Historic GT & Touring Car Championship! The races were driven in mild spring weather with a threat of a thunderstorm, but a dry track in the end.

Doing battle mainly with a similar car, which is running electronic fuel injection (?), Lex pressed out a fastest lap of just below 2 minutes, a 0,75 second improvement over The Hulk’s performance in the last season. So our modifications over the winter have paid dividends and Lex’ experience does the rest!

I drive Woodstock, the 1973 RSR, this year, because we want to see what Lex, with all his track experience, can achieve with the car. At the same time I believe you benefit from sitting in the middle of the field, so you don’t forget how close-racing works. So it was great to be back [...]

Work has continued at a feverish pitch this week at TwinSpark Central! The rear trailing arms in steel put up too many fitment issues and we decided to pick up the project again after the first races next weekend. Woodstock’s got its engine back in and should be barking at the neighbors soon again. The guys did a terrific job fitting lightweight windows all around and this means we are starting the season some 15 kilo’s lighter than we ended last year’s.

The Hulk sports our RSR brakes in the front now, but due to lack of time it still has the alloy trailing arms and the Long Distance rear calipers on. Engine goes in tomorrow.

Both cars are off to our friends at Beek Racing in The Hague on Tuesday to be lowered, corner weighted and aligned. Both cars need to be set up to take advantage of the slicks we run on, which [...]

TwinSpark friend and GT3 enthusiast Ivo van Riet has organized a Porsche only track day on June 23 2012 at the venerable racing venue of Zandvoort. Registration fees are Euro 450 per car for the day. It’s a two class event, where we expect to see a gaggle of 911’s from all generations between race-experienced rivers and Club drivers. Although the sound constraints seem severe, they are on a drive by basis in only one spot of the track, coming out of the corner into the straightaway. A rapid short shift to the next gear will keep you out of trouble!

Ivo has offered a free pit box to groups which bring 4-5 cars to the event, an offer worth Euro 150 a day. We like the date, as it is on a Saturday, normally a feature which comes at a premium. Grab this outstanding opportunity to discover the undulations and technical corners of this [...]
