Classic Porsches could only manage two of the top ten spots in the 2011 Boucles de Spa. Stefan Stouf in a Mk 1 Escort (car 182) repeated his RAC win of a few months ago, Waldegard was second in a Mk 2 Ford (#161), while third place went to Patrick Snijers in his ’82-chassis’d Porsche 911 SC RS (#162).

Eight-time winner Snijers, was initially held up due to alternator problems and getting stuck behind a pair of Opels on the first pass through Creppe. “If I’d been given details of the rankings, I might have put in a stronger attack,” said Snijers afterwards. “It seems I was fastest on the RTs, but I was beaten due to the younger age of my car (1982, versus 1975 and 1976). I obviously had not taken into consideration the corrective coefficients regarding the years.”

You may remember my blog entry about Diederick Kraaijeveld’s original artwork of a few months ago. On that occasion I told you he would be portraiting the Hulk for exhibition purposes. When I was away on Winter Trial 2011 “duty”, him and fellow TwinSpark owner Lex Proper rolled the Hulk into the daylight and Diederick cast his eye on the Hulk. Diederick had moved to a new location in Hilversum and having gone around the City Ring twice (…) despite clear route descriptions, I found my old high school mate’s new Lair. This place is even larger than the last one and my jaw dropped when I saw a series of portraits he [...]

The cars of TwinSpark Racing were recently featured in Esses magazine, the publication of the US-based Early 911S Registry.

Written by our friend Alex Assink, the piece details the specification of two TwinSpark Racing Porsche 911s: the yellow RSR we know as Woodstock, and the Silver T rally car we call Silverado.

Alex has clearly done his research, as the article makes two important points:

  • The author correctly assumes that Leonard has R Gruppe embroidered into his pyjamas.
  • Their meet at Zandvoort is for coffee first, cars second. This is agreed company protocol.

Actually I am kidding, but that is the spirit of Alex’s article: humorous and easy-going, much like our company. A few things have changed since this was written, however.

The biggest change is that Leonard’s son Daan has returned to full-time education, so [...]
