- Comments Off on Video Impression of Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix 2012
Team TwinSpark participated in a non-championship 1 hour race during the Open Exhaust Historic Grand Prix at Zandvoort on September 1 and 2. Lex proper and I shared the wheel during this race amongst 60’s and 70’s Sports Car prototypes and what an experience that was! Zandvoort has only 7 days a year during which there is no noise restriction. We could therefore drive The Hulk on megaphones for the very first time and experienced what an RSR sounded like in the day. I drove qualifying with ear plugs in, but decided that this was a waste of aural pleasure and raced without them!
As a coincidence my niece Emilia Mendieta, a Vassar cinematography graduate and producer, who lives in new York, was present that weekend and we asked here to make a video impression of the event, using both round-the-track video [...]

The same issue features the story of our patron, Gijs van Lennep, and his Porsche 917 at Rennsport. This is the same car Gijs drove with David Piper in the 1970 Le Mans. Again, [...]

I’ve got a nice little mention for TwinSpark Racing and The Hulk – our Dutch GT Championship-winning 3.0 RSR – in this month’s 911 & Porsche World magazine.
Each contributor gets a double page spread in rotation by issue to talk about what has caught their eye. This month is my turn. I ran with a few stories from WEVO dealer Specialist Vehicle Preparations, Tuthill Porsche, Porsche UK, Nicolas Hunziker and dearest TwinSpark.
The pic featured was taken by Leonard, on the day that Lex Proper cut the roof off The Hulk and welded in a sunroof-free panel. That week, the car was repainted up top and inside, ahead of our Spa track day. Everyone loved it in Belgium, so the work clearly paid off.
