Here’s a terrific scrap between a pair of Porsche 911 RSRs during the recent Youngtimer Trophy at Zolder.

The cars are fighting for the lead. In front is the white Team Mittelmotor car of Charles Voggenreiter, chasing is the purple car of Dr. Edgar Althoff.

If you thought historic racing was a nice way to stretch the legs of a retired older 911, this video will put you straight. The drivers put their cars through hell: sliding, braking later than they dare, sliding, banging gears and almost but not quite banging door handles too.

Last weekend was the 2011 Oldtimer GP at the Nürburgring. Billed by the organisers as the biggest classic car event in Europe, 2011 again attracted numerous automotive jewels to northern Germany. TwinSpark Racing’s Leonard Stolk took son Daan and our ST rally car, Silverado, down to the circuit for a day trip and to catch up with the on-track happenings.

Driving the Oldtimer GP is a goal of TwinSpark Racing, so we like to keep an eye on who is there and how fast they are! This year’s event seemed to be well attended: the ‘Ring had been transformed into a rolling open-air museum. The boys managed a few snaps in the public parking, where there were some interesting Porsche cars. Plenty of Sport Classics and new Speedsters suggest some enthusiast purchases have been involved: not just speculators.

Just back from an incredible trip to Germany, for the Nurburgring 24-Hour race. The event was memorable for many reasons, one big one being a victory for Porsche with a Manthey Racing GT3, and the other was the sheer speed of the 911R Hybrid.

Though the Hybrid started way down the field thanks to its air restrictor handicap, the car was soon climbing the order. The first few laps were all about the big Mercedes and Audis up front but as the laps counted up, the Hybrid just kept coming and coming. Eventually, the car took the lead, but confused reporting at the racetrack meant not that many people knew about it.

Soon there was a problem with diff flanges, and the car had to come in the pits, losing six [...]
