So many of our readership are proud owners of an early 911. An original piece of engineering history; a marvel of 60’s and 70’s automotive history. As you are well aware of, these cars were built with Motorsports in mind.

The factory provided OEM after market parts for all sorts of applications and privateers invented even more. In reality only the fully specced early 911s with so-called S packages were truly equipped for Motorsports as they came with proper sway bars and light alloy front brakes. Engine wise I have found that you can have a whole lot of fun with T,E, S or RS early engines and gearboxes and if they have been put together well, will rev happily all day and take you home with a smile on your face.

With our first races behind us it’s time to start focussing on the BergMeister Tour 2012. It’s hard to describe what the BergMeister is all about, but I’ll try.

I have regularly spent time in the South of France, visiting my sister, who lives and works there and I became enamored with the landscape of the Alpes Maritimes. During day trips my wife and I would criss cross the landscape in rental cars, looking for vantage points for photo’s, and at some stage I decided we needed to take the R Gruppe down here.

I came across some confusion on a Porsche forum the other day, where one user was telling another that WEVO do not make a transmission mount for the Porsche 915 gearbox, only the G50.

This is incorrect: WEVO does make transmission mounts for the Porsche 915 gearbox. Users can chose from blue and black pillows for Porsche transmission mounts: semi solid and a bit softer. I have blue in my 1976 Carrera 3.0 and would not change them, but lots of our customers use black quite happily in more road-biased cars.
