I’ve got some details to share with you on Spa lodgings.
Our 2011 Spa track day is the 10th of October, so we’ll be staying over on the 9th. Some people are staying at the Val d’Ambleve in Stavelot: quite a nice hotel with a price to match.
Last time we did this, the biggest group of us stayed at the Beau-Site in Hockai, about 5 kms from the track, and it was fine. Big restaurant and decent beer, clean and tidy rooms and about €40 a head for the night per person sharing, including a simple breakfast. I’ll be doing that again.

Last weekend was the 2011 Oldtimer GP at the Nürburgring. Billed by the organisers as the biggest classic car event in Europe, 2011 again attracted numerous automotive jewels to northern Germany. TwinSpark Racing’s Leonard Stolk took son Daan and our ST rally car, Silverado, down to the circuit for a day trip and to catch up with the on-track happenings.
Driving the Oldtimer GP is a goal of TwinSpark Racing, so we like to keep an eye on who is there and how fast they are! This year’s event seemed to be well attended: the ‘Ring had been transformed into a rolling open-air museum. The boys managed a few snaps in the public parking, where there were some interesting Porsche cars. This months’ 911 & Porsche World magazine is now on sale.
The issue features the carbon fibre-bodied WEVO 912 with the GT3 Cup engine. This car is extreme and the new gold standard in early Porsche hot rods. We call it PVX.
WEVO is a name to conjour with in Porsche circles. Hayden Burvill has set closed-course speed records with Norbert Singer and the Carrera GT, engineered the Brumos Porsche to race wins and helped to design multiple-race-winning Indy cars.
